Innis Drive is a short dead-end business street running west from Boston Road (Route 3A) south of Billerica Centre and ending in a turnaround. It was laid out on a "Subdivision Plan of Land in Billerica, Mass. for Robert B. Innis," dated February 1972 and drawn by Emmons, Fleming and Bienvenu, Inc., engineers and surveyors of Billerica, approved by the Planning Board on May 16, 1972 and recorded on August 31, 1972 (Plan Book 115, Plan 23). The plan draws "Innis Dr." 40 feet wide, curving in from Boston Road past a 40,823 square foot lot (Lot 2) to a circle in a 12.4 acre lot (Lot 1), both zoned general business; to the north and west the land was bounded by Content Homes, Inc., the owner of the old Mitchell Estates land.

The street takes its name from the owner, Robert B. Innis, who held this and other land in Billerica, some of it as a trustee of the Virginia Realty Trust. Lot 2 was divided again in April 1973 on a plan for the Daniel Realty Trust (Plan Book 116, Plan 144), which shows an existing one and a half story concrete block building on "Innis Road (40.00' Wide)"; the assessors date the light industrial building at 9 Innis Drive to about 1970, and the registry index names "Innis Dr" in a deed of April 12, 1974.

No vote accepting Innis Drive as a public way has been found. In 1995 the water mains running under Boston Road from the water tank to Innis Drive were replaced with a single 12 inch main during the reconstruction of Boston Road.
